How do I set default contact records for a specifc TLD?

Aktualisiert: 2026/07/13Aufrufe: 2212

Some TLDs (e.g., .cn, .us, .eu, .ie) have special requirements that your default Whois contact record may not meet. In such cases, you can create a new Whois contact—different from your account default Whois contact record—and assign it specifically to that TLD for future registrations or transfers.

This process involves two main steps:

1. Create a new Whois contact record

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Contact Records" in the drop-down.
  3. Click on the "Create Contact Record" button.
  4. Enter your contact information in the provided form.
  5. Click on the "Create Contact" button to save your changes.

2. Set the contact as the TLD default Whois contact record

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Domain Defaults" in the drop-down.
  3. Click the "Contacts" section.
  4. Unlock your account.
  5. In the TLD Specific, search for and select the desired TLD.
  6. For each contact category, choose the appropriate contact record from the dropdown menu:
    • Registrant
    • Admin Contact
    • Technical Contact
    • Billing Contact
  7. (Note: You can assign the same contact record to all four categories or use different ones. All selected contacts must meet the TLD's specific requirements.)
  8. Click on the "Save" button at the top-right corner to save your changes.
Note: Changes only affect future registrations and transfers. Existing domains will not be updated automatically.

TLD special requirements can be found on our TLD list page in the "Restrictions" column.
