Unlike many generic domains,.usdomains have specific eligibility requirements. Registrants must be either: U.S. citizens, permanent residents, U.S.-based organizations, or entities with a bona fide presence in the United States (such as having an office or other facility in the U.S.). Foreign entities without U.S. presencecannotregister .us domains.
Additionally, whois privacy services are prohibited for .us domains—registrant information must be public in the WHOIS database.
