Whether you're a domain investor eyeing your next acquisition or a business owner keeping tabs on your brand name online, Dynadot's Watch List gives you a simple way to monitor domains, without constantly checking manually.
Here's everything you need to know about what the Watch List does, why it's useful, and how to use it.
What Is the Dynadot Watch List?
The Watch List is a list of domains that someone wants to track, whether they want to one day purchase them, monitor domains in auctions, or simply stay informed about a domain's status.
Think of it as a passive monitoring tool. It doesn't reserve or bid on a domain, it keeps you informed so you can act at the right moment.
What Can the Watch List Track?
Dynadot's Watch List tracks any domain and notifies you when a domain:
- A domain you’re interested in goes from registered to unregistered
- A domain you’re interested in goes from unregistered to registered
- A domain you’re interested in enters the Dynadot Marketplace
- A domain you’re interested in enters Expired Domain Auctions, or becomes available to Backorder
That covers the full lifecycle of a domain: from active registration through expiry and back into the market.
Who Should Use It?
The Watch List is useful in several situations:
- Domain investors monitoring targets they want to bid on or acquire when they drop
- Businesses keeping an eye on domains that include their brand name, so they can act quickly if one gets registered or becomes available
- Anyone who has a specific domain in mind but isn't ready to purchase yet, the Watch List keeps you in the loop until the timing is right

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Watch List cost anything to use?
No. The Watch List is available to all Dynadot account holders at no additional cost. You just need a free Dynadot account to get started.
Will the Watch List register a domain for me automatically?
No. The Watch List only monitors and notifies you, it does not place backorders, place bids, or register domains on your behalf. You need to take action manually once you receive an alert.
Can I track domains I don't own?
Yes. You can add any domain to your Watch List, regardless of whether you own it. That's the primary use case, monitoring domains you want to acquire in the future. The info you can see is: if a domain is registered or not, what is it’s expiration date, is it listed on the marketplace, what auction, auction time left and nameserver.
How do I know when a domain's status changes?
Dynadot notifies you when a tracked domain hits one of the five monitored events: a registration change, a marketplace listing, an auction entry, or backorder availability. Check your notification settings in your account to make sure alerts are active.
Can I add domains to the Watch List without going through the main menu?
Yes. When browsing Dynadot's Aftermarket (including Expired Auctions, Backorders, and Marketplace listings) you can add any domain to your Watch List by clicking the star icon next to the domain name.
