  • How do I enter an ANAME (ALIAS) record for my domain?

An ANAME record, also known as an 'ALIAS' record, works similarly to a CNAME record but unlike CNAME records an ANAME record can be used together with other DNS record types, such as MX and TXT records. NOTE: ANAME records CANNOT be added to the "Subdomain Records (optional)" section of your DNS settings. It isn't possible to use an ANAME record if you are also using an A, AAAA, Forward, or Stealth Forward record in the "Domain Record (optional section)" as these record types will conflict with your ANAME record. To enter an ANAME record for your domain, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and then "Manage Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list. On the DNS Settings page, select the "Dynadot DNS" setting from the top drop-down menu. Under the "Domain Record (optional)" section, select "ANAME" from the drop-down. Enter your ANAME record in the "IP Address or Target Host" box. Press the "Save Settings" button to save your changes.

  • How do I enable Dynamic DNS for my domain?

Dynamic DNS uses dynamic IPs, continually checks for changes, and updates the IPs automatically. To enable Dynamic DNS for your domain, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to your domain name and click on the "Action" button. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list. On the DNS Settings page, select the "Dynadot DNS" setting from the top drop-down menu. At the bottom of the page, toggle the button to enable the Dynamic DNS feature. You can click on the "Generate Password" button to generate a password that will be used during the Dynamic DNS client configuration process. Click on the "Github" link, you will be forwarded to Github website. You can download and install the client following the instructions there. Press the "Save Settings" button to save your changes. Now that you have enabled Dynamic DNS for your domain and have the Dynamic DNS client ready, you can configure the client by following these steps: Go to the configuration page. Under the "DNS Provider" section, select "Dynadot" and enter the password generated on the DNS page earlier. Please ensure that you're using your Dynamic DNS password and not the account password for Dynadot. Enable IPv4 and/or IPv6, and specify the root domain or any subdomains that you want to enable for DDNS. Please note that only one root domain is supported, as the password differs for each domain. If you want to add other domains, click the 'Add' button at the top-right corner and repeat the steps. Select any other settings that best suit your needs. Press the "Save" button to save your changes. After completing the configuration, you will see logs confirming the successful addition of the domain(s). If you return to your Dynadot account and check the DNS settings for your domain, you will notice that the A or AAAA records have been automatically updated.NOTE: Your domain must be set to Dynadot DNS to use Dynamic DNS. Each domain has a unique password. Enabling Dynamic DNS will replace any conflicting DNS records, such as Forwarding, Stealth Forwarding, CNAME, ANAME, etc., with A/AAAA records specifically for your domain. For implementing Dynamic DNS, we recommend using the Dynamic DNS client available at the GitHub repository here.
