Which Validation Method Should I Choose For My SSL Certificate?

Dynadot is an official reseller of Alpha SSL certificates and offers both regular and wildcard SSL to help secure your website. Before your certificate can be issued, it will need to be validated using one of the two methods below:

  1. Approver Email (Email Validation):
In this method Alpha SSL will send an email to an address @YourDomain. There will be some options for you to choose from, but you may need to create this address, or at least a forward to it. This will be your best option if your domain is live with email service set up.
    • If you selected email validation but haven't set up the necessary email address after the ssl order is submitted, there are two methods to solve this:
      • Create the required email address or set up a forward to an existing one. Then, go to your account Summary > SSL Order Status, and resend the verification email. (You may also change to another email address in this section and resend the verification.)
      • Cancel your current SSL order and submit a new one using the DNS verification instead.
  2. DNS Verification (TXT Validation):
As an alternative, you can verify domain ownership by adding a TXT record to your domain's DNS settings. The required TXT record value will be provided to you during the SSL order process, the TXT record could be find in SSL Order Status section within your account summary page.
